A little understanding goes a long way.

The everyday bits

Living with PoTS

School, family plans, friendships and rest all matter. Small moments of understanding can make everyday life with PoTS easier.

A little understanding

Things that can make a difference

Practical ways to be thoughtful without assuming you know what another person needs.

For friends

Believe what they tell you.

Someone can look fine and still be struggling. Listening without asking them to prove it matters.

For families

Plans sometimes change.

Being flexible about busy days, rest and activities can help take the pressure off.

For school & everyday life

Ask what support helps.

Needs are individual. It’s better to make a plan with the young person, family and professionals than guess.

If you’re supporting somebody

Small things are still big things.

Support can be as simple as listening, offering a place to sit or understanding when plans need to change. Being flexible helps young people feel included, even on a difficult day.

Everybody’s needs are different. Keep talking, ask what helps and work with the young person and their healthcare team.
